Police Services Board Extends Chief Fletcher’s Contract
(Bradford/Innisfil, ON) The Bradford West Gwillimbury/Innisfil Police Services Board has approved the contract extension of South Simcoe Police Chief Andrew Fletcher.
The Board announced the decision at its regular meeting on Wednesday, May 25, 2022. The Chief’s contract had expired in April and has been extended for the remainder of 2022.
Chief Fletcher was first appointed Chief in 2017 after joining the South Simcoe Police Service as Deputy Chief in 2015. His 38-year policing career started with the Halton Regional Police in 1984 where he became Deputy Chief in 2007. His first role in emergency services was as a police dispatcher with Port Hope Police where he served from 1982 – 1984.
“Chief Fletcher is an amazing leader and we’re thrilled that we’re working with the Chief as a Board. (It’s) critical to keep the stability in the organization to have a leadership that is consistent,” said Chair Chris Gariepy. “The Chief, the senior leadership, all of the officers have an amazing relationship with the communities that we work in and I think that consistency is helpful as well.”
“It’s an exciting time for me. Obviously when you take a position as Chief you hope to bring about positive change and advance the organization as much as you can. To have my contract extended allows me an opportunity to continue to do some of the great work that we’re doing and keep building our team so that when the time is right I can pass the torch to the next Chief and leave it in great shape,” said Chief Andrew Fletcher.
