South Simcoe Police is committed to providing a quality service to the community. The Paid Duty Program will allow clients to hire off duty officers on a contract basis to provide a police presence at their events. Officers will not be assigned to any function that requires that they act outside the normal scope of police duties. Some of the assignments for which officers are available include (but are not limited to):

  • Community events
  • Festivals and concerts
  • Film productions
  • Funerals
  • Meetings or Hearings
  • Parades
  • Private functions
  • Road construction
  • Sporting events
  • Traffic control
  • Wide load escorts

Each request will be reviewed to ensure that it falls within the mandate of the Paid Duty Section.  The Paid Duty Coordinator reserves the right to determine the number of officers required for an event based upon a risk assessment. Services will only be provided when all parties agree and all required positions are filled.


  • Constables $77.00/hr
  • Sergeants $86.50/hr
  • Staff Sergeants $97.00/hr
  • Vehicles $35/hr
  • Vessels $150/hr
  • **Administrative 15% fee

Any cancellations less than 24 hrs notice will result in a charge of 4 hours per officer

Any request made with less than 5 business days notice will result in an administrative charge $100

**Note: An administration fee of 15% will be added to each paid duty request.
There is a four hour minimum charge for each officer or equipment assigned to a duty.

Police Officers are not permitted to accept payment at the event.  Payments can be made in advance by credit card. Any additional fees as a result of extended hours will be billed to the client after they are calculated. Paid Duties will not be filled without submission of the Credit Card Authorization form.
