This acronym stands for Criminal Intelligence Service of Ontario. We are members of this Organization and have an Officer assigned full time to the Intelligence Bureau. This officer identifies and tracks criminal groups in our area. He provides and receives information from other Ontario services.
CISO is a unique co-operative of law-enforcement agencies dedicated to fighting organized and major crime by sharing and analyzing criminal intelligence.
In partnership with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, CISO administers an independent Joint Force Operations (JFO) program. The program provides resources and co-ordinates funding to local, provincial and federal police services involved in major criminal investigations.
CISO’s Provincial Bureau receives, stores, analyzes and distributes criminal intelligence among its provincial members and to its national counterparts. It is one of nine provincial bureaus which form Criminal Intelligence Service Canada (CISC), the national network of local, provincial and federal police and law-enforcement agencies dedicated to fighting organized crime.
This program operates under the Police Services Act.
