The Crimes Against Persons Unit of the Criminal Investigations Bureau investigates major cases as defined by Ontario Major Case Management including homicides, violent crime and special victims. These investigations include sexual assaults, child abuse, firearm investigations, arson and major frauds.
The unit’s work also includes missing person cases where foul play is suspected or cases involving the death of a child under five years old. The team of experienced officers with specialized training also supports front line investigations and works in partnership with other police agencies on multi-jurisdictional investigations.
