MALE DAMAGES HOLDING CELL AT POLICE STATION AFTER ARREST FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

(BRADFORD, ON) – On Sunday, August 31, 2025, at approximately 8:40 p.m., South Simcoe Police officers responded to the South Division at 81 Melbourne Drive in Bradford West Gwillimbury, after a male attended the station exhibiting erratic behaviour. Earlier the same evening, police responded to a report of suspicious activity in a local park involving a male believed to be the same person who attended the station.

Through investigation, police determined that it was the same male, and he had driven himself to the police station. Subsequently, officers formed grounds to believe he was impaired by alcohol, and the accused was arrested and taken into custody. While in the holding cell, the accused caused significant damage by repeatedly kicking the door and damaging plumbing fixtures, resulting in substantial flooding within the facility.

As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old male from Bradford has been charged with:

Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs – C.C. Section 320.14(1)(a)
Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand – C.C. Section 320.15(1)
Mischief Under $5,000 – C.C. Section 430(4)

The accused driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 18, 2025.
