IMPAIRED DRIVING PUTS EVERYONE AT RISK
SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE CHARGE IMPAIRED DRIVERS IN INNISFIL
(INNISFIL, ON) – On December 13, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., South Simcoe Police responded to a report of a driving complaint on Sea Ray Avenue in the Town of Innisfil. Upon arrival, police located the vehicle and driver and formed grounds to believe that the driver was impaired by alcohol. As a result, a 20-year-old male from Innisfil was arrested and charged with:
• Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs – C.C. Section 320.14(1)(a)
• Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration – C.C. Section 320.14(1)(b)
The accused driver’s licence has been suspended, and the vehicle was impounded. He is scheduled to appear in court on January 15, 2026.
In a separate incident, on December 14, 2025, at approximately 7:50 p.m., South Simcoe Police received a report of a single motor vehicle collision that occurred on Strahallan Woods Lane in the Town of Innisfil.
The incident involved a black Volkswagen that was reported in a ditch off the roadway. Upon arrival on scene, the vehicle was found unoccupied. Subsequently, police observed the driver walking on Prince William Way, who started fleeing on foot and eventually stopping after approached by police. Through investigation, police formed reasonable grounds to believe the driver was impaired by alcohol and was operating a motor vehicle while prohibited under a court-imposed driving ban arising from a prior criminal conviction. As a result, a 23-year-old male with no fixed address was arrested and charged with:
• Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs – C.C. Section 320.14(1)(a)
• Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration – C.C. Section 320.14(1)(b)
• Operation While Prohibited by Order under the Criminal Code – CC 320.18(1)(a)
• Fail to Remain – HTA 200(1)(a)
The accused driver’s licence was seized and the vehicle was impounded. The accused was taken into custody and held pending a bail hearing.
Impaired driving puts everyone at risk – our children, our neighbours and our loved ones. Thankfully, no injuries occurred during these incidents. South Simcoe Police continue to respond to impaired driving incidents in our communities. It is important to always drive sober and have a plan for going out by arranging a designated driver, taking public transit, or calling a ride service.
