IMPAIRED DRIVING PUTS EVERYONE AT RISK
SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE CHARGE IMPAIRED DRIVER IN INNISFIL
(INNISFIL, ON) – On August 27, 2025, at approximately 9:20 p.m., South Simcoe Police received a report of a single vehicle collision on Shore Acres Drive in the Town of Innisfil. South Simcoe Police located a silver Nissan Versa with significant damage on the northbound side of the roadway. The driver sustained minor injuries when the vehicle rolled over after swerving off the road. Police discovered empty alcoholic beverage containers in the vehicle and formed grounds to believe that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was transported to hospital as a precaution. As a result, a 29-year-old male from Barrie was arrested and charged with:
• Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs – C.C. Section 320.14(1)(a)
• Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration – C.C. Section 320.14(1)(b)
• Dangerous Operation – C.C. Section 320.12(1)
• Novice Driver – B.A.C. Above Zero – HTA 44.1(3)
• Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence – HTA 32(1)
The accused driver’s licence has been suspended, and his vehicle impounded. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 11, 2025.
South Simcoe Police continue to respond to impaired driving incidents in our communities. Impaired driving puts everyone at risk, our children, our neighbours and our loved ones. It is important to remember to always drive sober and have a plan for going out by arranging a designated driver, taking public transit, or calling a ride service.
