(INNISFIL, ON) – On August 23, 2026, at approximately 11:20 p.m., South Simcoe Police responded to a call of an assault after a group of youths reported that their friend had been stabbed following an altercation in the area of 20th Sideroad and Benson Street in the Town of Innisfil.
Officers located the victim, who had sustained several lacerations to the body. Police provided medical assistance until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and remains in stable condition.
Uniform officers secured the scene and requested the assistance of the Canine Unit, which conducted an article search in the area.
A youth suspect has been identified and turned themselves in to police. The youth was held in custody pending a bail hearing and cannot be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The youth suspect has been charged with the following offences:
- Aggravated Assault, C.C. Section 268
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, C.C. Section 88
- Failure to Comply with an Undertaking, C.C. Section 145(4)(a)
Members of the South Simcoe Police Criminal Investigative Services – Crimes Against Persons Unit attended the scene and are assisting with the investigation, which remains ongoing.
Police believe this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing concern for public safety.
