(INNISFIL/BRADFORD, ON) – The National Peace Officers’ Memorial Run was established by the Peel Regional Police running team, The Pacers, to raise awareness of the annual Police and Peace Officers’ Memorial Service held on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. The run also serves to pay tribute to those officers who have valiantly given their lives in service to their communities and country. Participants run 460 kms from Toronto to Ottawa, arriving in time for the annual Canadian Police and Peace Officers’ Memorial Service, which will take place on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
As a special tribute to South Simcoe Police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, a kick-off run for the National Peace Officers’ Memorial Run will be held at the South Simcoe Police South Division, located at 81 Melbourne Drive in Bradford, Ontario. This local kick-off provides an opportunity for service members, along with their families and friends, to honour Police Constable Alan Kuzmich, Police Constable Devon Northrup, and Police Constable Morgan Russell through a run or walk in the Bradford West Gwillimbury community. The event will include a moment of silence at Constable Devon Northrup Memorial Park and Alan Kuzmich Memorial Park, both named in memory of fallen South Simcoe Police Service officers.
The National Peace Officers’ Memorial Run was deeply cherished by Constable Devon Northrup and as a former Team Captain for South Simcoe Police it was held near and dear to his heart. Today, members of the original running team have stepped in to ensure Constable Northrup’s legacy continues.
The media is invited to attend the kick-off event. Interviews and photo opportunities will be made available prior to the event time.
