(BRADFORD, ON) – On March 2, 2026, at approximately 3:45 a.m., officers from the South Simcoe Police Service were conducting proactive patrol in the area of Stevenson Crescent in Bradford West Gwillimbury when they observed a grey Volkswagen parked on the roadway with its engine running. As officers approached the vehicle, the driver fled at a high rate of speed, driving erratically and failing to stop at two posted stop signs.
Shortly after, officers located the vehicle in the driveway of a residence on Colborne Street. Police discovered an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle, and subsequently the driver was arrested. As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old male from Bradford, Ontario was charged with the following offences:
• Fail to Stop at a Stop Sign – HTA 136(1)(a)
• Careless Driving – HTA 130(4)
• Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle – HTA 7(5)(a)
• Open Liquor in Motor Vehicle – LLCA 42(1)(a)
• Fail to surrender insurance card – CAIA 3(1)
The accused driver’s licence has been suspended, and his vehicle impounded. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 16, 2026.
The South Simcoe Police Service reminds motorists to always drive sober. Do not drive if you have consumed alcohol, cannabis, or other impairing drugs – including those prescribed for medical purposes and be sure to plan ahead to ensure you have a safe ride to and from your destination by arranging a designated driver, taking public transit, or calling a ride service. Police continue to proactively patrol our roadways to ensure community and public safety.
