Two Youths Arrested After Fleeing Highway 400 Collision in Stolen Vehicle

(BRADFORD, ON) – On June 3, 2026, at approximately 6:00 a.m., South Simcoe Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on northbound Highway 400, south of County Road 88, in Bradford West Gwillimbury.

The collision involved a Honda CR-V and a transport truck. As a result of the collision, the Honda CR-V became disabled, and traffic in both the northbound and southbound lanes was impacted while police worked to clear the scene. Working in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police, officers safely cleared the collision scene, and the investigation continued.

During the investigation, witnesses reported seeing the two occupants of the Honda CR-V flee the area on foot toward Bradford immediately following the collision. South Simcoe Police officers quickly located and arrested both individuals. Officers also determined that the Honda CR-V had been reported stolen from Peel Region earlier that morning.

As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old youth from Vaughan and a 15-year-old youth from Mississauga were arrested and charged with several offences, including:

  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Possession of stolen motor vehicle
  • Possession of automobile master key
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Fail to remain at the scene of a collision
  • Fail to comply with release conditions


The 17-year-old accused was held for a bail hearing. The identity of the accused persons is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and cannot be released.

South Simcoe Police wish to thank the witnesses who provided information, the motorists who experienced delays for their patience and cooperation, and the Ontario Provincial Police for their assistance in safely managing and clearing the highway.
