After You Apply

If your request is approved, the South Simcoe Police Service’s Reconsideration Panel will notify you within 30 days. You will be contacted to pick up a new Police Record Check (at no additional cost), and a letter confirming the Reconsideration Panel’s decision will be sent to the applicant.

If your request is denied, you will receive a written explanation. Reasons may be withheld only if disclosure could:

  • Jeopardize an ongoing investigation or intelligence gathering,
  • Endanger a person or property,
  • Breach a legal privilege, or
  • Be contrary to public policy (e.g., public immunity privilege).

In exceptional circumstances, if the South Simcoe Police Service cannot meet the stated timelines, you will be notified of any extensions.
