Filing a Police Report Online

Online reporting offers a convenient option for community members to report select non-urgent incidents. Please note that submissions are not monitored around the clock. If you’re experiencing an emergency or witnessing a crime in progress, call 9-1-1 immediately.

For incidents that occurred on Provincial Highway 400, please contact the Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) directly.

Before submitting an online crime report, please ensure your incident meets the criteria for online reporting. 

  • The crime occurred outside South Simcoe Police jurisdiction.
    (Please contact the local police service in that area).
  • The incident involved threats, violence, or domestic violence.
  • The crime was motivated by hate or bias.
  • You have information such as:
    1. The suspect’s identity
    2. A vehicle description or licence plate
    3. Evidence left at the scene
  • You wish to report anonymously or as a confidential informant.

After a Report is Filed Online

  • Once you submit your online report, you will see the words “Your online police report has been submitted” indicating your report has been sent to South Simcoe Police.
  • An email will be sent to you containing a temporary report number (e.g., T24000061) for reference.
  • We aim to review your report within 72 hours, though processing times may be longer during peak periods.
  • If more details are needed, we’ll reach out to you by email or phone. Once all necessary information is provided and your report is approved, you’ll receive a follow-up email containing your permanent report number (e.g., PW250000057).


To help prevent delays, make sure your report includes all relevant details and is clearly written.

Has property been taken from your personal, work, or commercial vehicle without your permission?

  • Wallets, purses, or bags
  • Electronics (e.g., GPS, phone chargers, headphones)
  • Tools or work equipment
  • Clothing or personal items
  • Loose change or small valuables

Please do not use the online system for the following:

  • The value of stolen items exceeds $5,000.
  • The vehicle sustained physical damage to gain entry (e.g., smashed window, pried door).
  • You have suspect information, video footage, or a licence plate.
  • The theft involved weapons, drugs, or sensitive documents.
  • The incident is part of a series of crimes or involves threats or violence.

  • Stolen property under $5000 dollars in value
  • Stolen credit cards and debit cards 
  • Residential or Commercial


Has someone you don’t know taken your personal, workplace, or business property without your permission?

  • Wallet, purse
  • Delivery packages and parcels
  • Identification (drivers’ licence, health card)
  • Credit cards, debit cards, currency
  • Cell phone, laptop
  • Jewelry
  • Keys
  • Bicycle, scooters
  • Shoplifting

The following incidents must be reported to police by phone or in person:

  • Total stolen property valued over $5,000.
  • Stolen/Lost licence plates
  • Lost Canadian Passports: Report the loss to the Passport Program at 1-800-567-6868 or visit a Passport Office or Service Canada Centre.
  • Stolen Canadian Passports: Report to South Simcoe Police by phone or in person at 2137 Innisfil Beach Road, Innisfil or 81 Melbourne Drive, Bradford to South Simcoe Police prior to contacting Service Canada.
  • Lost or Stolen Foreign Passports: Report to South Simcoe Police by phone or in person at 2137 Innisfil Beach Road, Innisfil or 81 Melbourne Drive, Bradford to South Simcoe Police prior to contacting the Consulate or Embassy of the issuing country.
  • Break and Enter Incidents: If the item was stolen from your home, business, hotel room, garage, or shed due to unlawful entry, contact police directly.
  • Known suspects: If you know the suspect’s name, address, or vehicle licence plate (except for gas theft), report in person.
  • Stolen vehicles, ATV, boats, farm equipment, snowmobiles or motorcycles.
  • Stolen firearms.

Have you discovered that someone has accessed and used your personal information, such as your name, date of birth, or Social Insurance Number without your consent? Are you still in possession of your debit or credit card, but noticed unauthorized transactions or withdrawals from your account?

  • Unauthorized use of your credit or debit card.
  • Someone opening a bank account in your name.
  • Loans taken out in your name.
  • Online purchases made with stolen account details.
  • Phishing emails or texts asking for personal information.


NOTE: Contact all financial institutions and service providers where your accounts may have been compromised to alert them and take protective measures.

Please do not use the online system for the following:

  • Total fraud exceeding $5,000.
  • If your documents have been lost or stolen please file a theft report. Do not file an identity theft/fraud report. 
  • Civil issues. Disagreements over contracts, unpaid debts, or landlord tenant disputes.
  • Fraud involving threats or violence. If the fraud includes intimidation, coercion, or physical harm, contact police immediately.
  • Known suspects or identifiable individuals. If you know who committed the fraud or have details like their name, address, or vehicle, report in person to police.
  • Break and Enter with fraud. If fraud occurred alongside unlawful entry into your home, business, or vehicle, this is a criminal offense requiring police investigation.
  • Romance scams or extortion. These emotionally manipulative frauds often involve threats or coercion and should be reported to police and to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
  • In Person Fraud at Home. Frauds involving someone coming to your home and receiving money, such as impersonating a contractor, charity worker, delivery person, or utility agent should be reported to South Simcoe Police by contacting 705-436-2141 or 905-775-3311.


FILE AN ONLINE IDENTITY THEFT/FRAUD REPORT

Has anyone caused damage, defaced, or vandalized public or private property without permission?

  • Graffiti or tagging on fences, walls, or public spaces (Does NOT include Hate-Motivated graffiti).
  • Broken windows at a home, business, or vehicle. (If no suspect is known)
  • Egging or vandalism of a house, garage door, or vehicle. (If no suspect is known)
  • Scratches or dents on a parked car with no witnesses or suspects. (Does NOT include motor vehicle collisions)
  • Damage to landscaping such as uprooted plants or broken garden lights.
  • Mailbox or fence damage caused by unknown individuals.
  • Tampering with outdoor decorations or signage.
  • Minor damage to commercial property (e.g., signage, exterior fixtures).

Please do not use the online system for the following:

  • The damage must be under $5000 in value.
  • Any property damage caused by a motor vehicle collision.
  • If the damage involves a break and enter, known suspect, or threat, it must be reported to South Simcoe Police by calling 705-436-2141 or 905-775-3311.
  • Damage caused by a known suspect. If you know who caused the damage or have information such as their name, address, or vehicle licence plate, report directly to police by calling 705-436-2141 or 905-775-3311.
  • Damage involving threats or violence. If the property damage occurred alongside verbal threats, physical aggression, or intimidation, including cases involving mischief linked to intimate partner violence it cannot be reported online.
  • Damage resulting from hate, bias, or domestic violence.
  • Damage involving firearms or vehicles. If the damage is related to the theft or misuse of a firearm or vehicle, report to police by calling 705-436-2141 or
    905-775-3311.
  • Damage with evidence left behind. If there are items, tools, or other physical evidence at the scene, police need to collect and document it directly. Report to police by calling 705-436-2141 or 905-775-3311.

Has someone you don’t recognize taken fuel from a gas station and left without paying, with clear intent to avoid payment?

  • Driving away from a gas station without paying for the pumped fuel.
  • You have basic details like time, location, vehicle description, and licence plate (if available).
  • The suspect is known.
  • There was aggressive behavior, threats, or physical contact.
  • The incident is part of a pattern or repeated offense of the same known suspect.
  • Does not include other merchandise within the gas station store.

Have you accidentally misplaced or left behind an item? These reports are not actively investigated, but they are kept on record in case the item is found and can be returned to you.

To help identify your item, please include:

  • Serial number
  • Engraving
  • Any identifiable markings or features
  • Government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s licence, passport)
  • Cell phone
  • Laptop
  • Wallet or purse
  • Keys
  • Personal documents

Please do not use the online system for the following:

  • Lost property valued over $5,000.
  • Lost firearms.
  • Lost passport photos, keys, money, clothing, eyeglasses etc.
  • Lost Canadian Passports: Report to Service Canada in person or phone 1-800-567-6868.
  • Lost Foreign Passports: Report in person to South Simcoe Police at either 2137 Innisfil Beach Road, Innisfil, or 81 Melbourne Drive, Bradford, before contacting the Consulate or Embassy of the issuing country.
  • Lost credit cards, bank cards, membership cards, rewards cards, etc. (report to financial or issuing institution).
