File For Freedom Of Information

Getting Started

Under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, you have the right to request access to any record held by government institutions, including your local police service.

For the South Simcoe Police Service, requests for copies of all police reports (excluding motor vehicle collision reports and proof of loss reports, which are available through our Information Support Unit) and any other police records must be made through our Freedom of Information Unit.

The Freedom of Information Unit ensures all requests are handled in compliance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, as well as federal and provincial laws. Please note that some records may contain personal information about others and can only be released with their consent.

You can submit your request in one of two ways:

  1. In Person
Visit either the North or South Division of the South Simcoe Police Service and complete a request form.
  • Fee: $5 (legislated application fee)
  • Payment: Debit, Visa, Mastercard, or certified cheque/money order payable to South Simcoe Police Service
  • Identification: Government-issued photo ID is required at the time of your request
  1. By Mail
Complete the MFIPPA Access Form and mail it to:

    Information Support
    South Simcoe Police Service
    2137 Innisfil Beach Road
    Innisfil, ON L9S 1A2

    Include:
  • Certified cheque or money order for $5 (payable to South Simcoe Police Service)
  • Photocopy of one piece of government-issued photo ID

  • The FOI Unit has 30 days to respond to your request under MFIPPA.
  • You will be notified of any additional fees before processing continues.
  • For your security, please do not send requests over the internet, as they may contain personal and sensitive information.
