Have you ever wondered how you can assist your community to better equip themselves against crime and disorder? or perhaps you have considered a career in law enforcement and are looking to explore the variety of career directions you can take? If so, the Citizens Police Academy might be the right program for you.

The intent of the program is to provide individuals with a professional or personal interest in community policing with an exclusive opportunity to acquire knowledge on various aspects of policing. Over the course of 9 sessions the class will cover any aspects of police service, with a strong emphasis on community policing. Through interactive, hands on learning, practical demonstrations, real life scenarios and case studies, the following topics will be covered:

Students will also have an opportunity to speak directly with the Chief of Police and Police Services Board Chair at one of the sessions.

The program is held one night a week for ten weeks. Sessions are divided between both the North Division and South Division and will include tours of both buildings.

The class is limited to 22 participants and priority is given to applicants living in Bradford West Gwillimbury or Innisfil.

Due to the nature of the course curriculum, police security checks will need to be completed on all applicants.
