Job Description

We are currently accepting applications for police constables (recruit).

As a Police Constable, each day you will be responsible to:

  • Improve and maintain the safety, security and quality of life for municipal residents; through the application of community policing
  • Contribute to the development and achievement of Service goals
  • Enforce federal, provincial and municipal statutes in response to citizens’ complaints
  • Respond to service calls
  • Prepare and process charges under federal, provincial and municipal statutes
  • Participate in community-based activities and projects
  • Undertake special assignments
  • Give evidence in court

When applying for the position of police constable with South Simcoe Police, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada and at least 18 years old
  • Be physically and mentally able to perform the duties of the position
  • Have proof of successful completion of four years of secondary school education or equivalency
  • Where education has been completed outside Ontario, official proof of equivalency must be obtained by contacting the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training
  • Possess a valid Ontario driver’s license class G, at minimum
  • Possess valid standard first-aid and CPR level C certification, at minimum
  • Be able to pass a security clearance as well as background investigation, credit and reference checks
  • Have no criminal record for which you have not received a pardon and be of good moral character and habits
  • Possess a valid OACP Certificate of Results

  1. A one-page cover letter
  2. An updated resume
  3. A photocopy of your valid OACP Certificate of Results (Valid hearing and vision results meeting standard are required)
  4. Applicant Survey Form
  5. Complete Authorization Form for Release of Information (Completed in handwriting)
  6. Photocopy of Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C” Certificate. (Your certificate must remain valid throughout the Constable Selection Process)
  7. Complete – Police Services Applications
