IMPAIRED DRIVERS TAKEN OFF ROAD DURING FOUR-DAY R.I.D.E. BLITZ ACROSS SIMCOE COUNTY (OCT. 17-20, 2018) 

 

(Simcoe County, ON) – The South Simcoe Police Service along with the Simcoe County Police Authority partners, conducted coordinated R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check stops across Simcoe County, October 17-20, 2018.  

During the four days of patrols, officers checked hundreds of vehicles and laid the following charges: 

· Impaired by drug x2 

· Impaired by alcohol x2 

· Over 80 x2 

· Warn range suspension – alcohol x9 

· Cannabis readily available in vehicle x12 

· Possession – Cocaine  

· Obstruct police 

· Liquor offences x4 

· Suspend drive 

· Stunt driving 

· Public intoxication 

· Seatbelt offences x4 

These results are a clear indication that we still have work to do. Anyone who sees dangerous driving or suspected impaired driving is asked to report it to their local police service or call 9-1-1 in emergency.  

R.I.D.E. initiatives are also an opportunity to remind motorists about the importance of safe and sober driving.
