(Bradford, ON) The South Simcoe Police Service would like to make the public aware of a street robbery that occurred on Tuesday, April 30, 2019. Around 9:00 a.m., a 64-year-old man was walking in the area of Holland Street West and Summerlyn Trail. A suspect approached him and threatened to harm the victim if he did not hand over all of his cash. The victim complied and the suspect was last seen fleeing on foot northbound on Summerlyn Trail. The current description is limited, but police are searching for a male suspect, around 6 feet tall, wearing dark clothing.

Drug Arrest 

(Bradford, ON) A 25-year-old Hamilton man is facing several charges following a drug investigation by the South Simcoe Police Service Street Crime Unit.

On Tuesday, April 30, 2019, officers attempted to stop a suspect vehicle in the area of Holland Street West and Simcoe Road in Bradford. The suspect vehicle side-swiped a police cruiser and fled at a high rate of speed. The suspect subsequently bailed from the vehicle and fled on foot but was arrested nearby following a foot chase and canine track.

The suspect was charged with the following offences:

Trafficking cocaine

Dangerous driving

Flight from police

Fail to remain at scene of accident

Mischief to property

The accused was released with a court date in June. No one was injured during the incident.

PSD Nitro Featured in National Magazine 

(Bradford, ON) Police Service Dog Nitro is getting national exposure.
Nitro and his handler Constable Shawn Gwilliam are featured in the latest edition of the Pet Valu magazine ‘Companion’. The magazine is being displayed in over 1,000 stores across Canada and is available online. The Pet Valu store in Bradford is an important community partner for Nitro and Gwilliam. Franchise owners Bob and Liz Pegg sponsor Nitro with a lifetime of Performatrin food, as they have done for 20 years with past South Simcoe Police Service dogs. Nitro is the first canine officer to be profiled in the publication.
