Man Charged Following Online Threats
(Innisfil, ON) The South Simcoe Police Service has charged an Innisfil man following an investigation into online threats.
Police recently began an investigation into threatening comments posted on YouTube. On Tuesday, June 7, 2022, police arrested a man at an Innisfil home.
As a result of the investigation, 44-year-old William McLean of Innisfil was charged with five counts of Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, and Firearm or Weapon Possession Contrary to Prohibition Order. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
Impaired Driving/Public Mischief
(Bradford, ON) An Orillia woman has been charged with Impaired Driving and Public Mischief after an investigation that began with a report about a stolen vehicle in Bradford. On Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the South Simcoe Police Service was called to a report of a vehicle stolen overnight and returned with damage to an address in the area of Professor Day Drive and Breeze Drive. The investigation continued. At 5:40 p.m., police responded to a citizen-initiated complaint and located the vehicle in question in a parking lot on Holland Street West where the driver was arrested. As a result of the investigation, 39-year-old Cheryl-Lynn Matthias of Orillia was charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol and Public Mischief relating to the earlier report of a vehicle theft. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded for seven days.
There is no excuse for impaired driving. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, ride share, public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture. Do your part to ensure everyone gets home safe.
