Impaired Driving  

(Innisfil, ON) On Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 5:00 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a report of an erratic driver in the 25th Sideroad and 9th Line area of Innisfil.  Police conducted a traffic stop and the driver was arrested for Impaired Operation. He was transported to North Division where breath tests resulted in readings over the legal limit of alcohol. As a result, 42-year-old Shane Mitchell of Innisfil was charged with Impaired Operation and Over 80. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

Dangerous Operation/Flight From Police 

(Innisfil, ON) On Tuesday, June 2, 2020 around 7:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a driving complaint near Webster Boulevard and 7th Line in Innisfil. Police attempted to pull over the vehicle in question but it failed to stop and accelerated at a high rate of speed through a school zone and then a crowded neighbourhood. Officers did not pursue the vehicle but witnesses guided police to the location where the vehicle was abandoned and a suspect was seen fleeing into a wooded area. K9 attended, conducted a track and located the suspect. He was arrested without incident.

A 16-year-old Innisfil youth was charged with several offences including Dangerous Operation, Race a Motor Vehicle and Flight from Police. The accused cannot be identified due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
