(Innisfil, ON) Two men face drug possession charges following a traffic stop in Innisfil.
On Tuesday, July 2, 2019, South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in the Swan Street and Corm Street area. A traffic stop was conducted and while speaking with the driver, police detected an odour of alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to North Division after a roadside screening device test resulted in a fail. Officers who remained on scene found a quantity of suspected cocaine in the vehicle. Based on further testing at the police division, the 29-year-old Innisfil man who was driving the vehicle was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and issued a 3-day warn range suspension for alcohol. He was also charged with Driving While Under Suspension. His passenger, a 37-year-old Markham man, was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. Both accused were released with future court dates.
