CITIZEN REPORT LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES
(BRADFORD, ON) – South Simcoe Police have laid impaired driving charges after responding to a driving complaint from a concerned citizen.
On October 21, 2024, at approximately 7:26 p.m., South Simcoe Police received a call from a concerned citizen regarding a possible impaired driver in blue Toyota on Milligan Street in Bradford West Gwillimbury. Police responded and were able to locate the vehicle after the driver conducted a U-turn in front of two police cruisers at Sideroad 10 and Highway 88. Police stopped the vehicle and found several empty beer cans and an empty wine glass bottle in the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 29-year-old Oshawa male, was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation – Alcohol and Drugs and Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration. His licence was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 14, 2024.
South Simcoe Police would like to thank the vigilant citizen for promptly reporting the suspicious activity that led to the arrest of an impaired driver in our community. This incident serves as an important reminder that we all have a role in keeping our communities safe. Together, we can make a difference in road safety and help everyone arrive alive. Anyone who witnesses a suspected impaired driver is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
South Simcoe Police would like to remind the public to always consume alcohol and cannabis responsibly. DO NOT drive if you will be consuming alcohol or cannabis, and be sure to plan ahead to ensure you have a safe ride home.
