Careless Driving  

(Innisfil, ON) A 40-year-old Barrie man has been charged with Careless Driving following a three-vehicle collision in Innisfil.

On Saturday, October 12, 2019, around 3:00 p.m., a southbound vehicle on 5 Sideroad attempting to turn left was struck by a second southbound vehicle. The impact sent the first vehicle into the northbound lanes where it was struck by a northbound vehicle. Two children aged 11 and seven who were in the second vehicle were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released. All of the drivers involved were unhurt. On Tuesday, October 15, 2019, a 40-year-old Barrie man who was driving the second vehicle was charged with Careless Driving.

Sexual Assault 

(Innisfil, ON) A 49-year-old Innisfil woman is charged with Sexual Assault after South Simcoe Police Service officers were called to an Innisfil home.

On Tuesday, October 15, 2019 around 2:30 a.m., police arrived on scene and spoke to a 27-year-old man who said he had been sexually assaulted. As a result of investigation, a 49-year-old Innisfil woman was charged with Sexual Assault. She was released with a future court date. The victim was not physically injured. The suspect and victim were known to each other.

A sexual assault is any type of unwanted sexual activity without consent. It is never okay regardless of your age, gender or socioeconomic background. If you have been a victim of a sexual assault report it to police. We take these reports very seriously and will vigorously investigate them.

Impaired Driving Collision 

(Innisfil, ON) A 50-year-old Innisfil man was charged with Impaired Operation and Over 80 after a single vehicle collision in Innisfil.

On Sunday, October 13, 2019, around 12:30 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a single vehicle collision on the 20th Sideroad at the 2nd Line. A vehicle had left the road, crashed through trees before stopping next to a house. The driver was arrested at the scene for impaired driving. He was transported to North Division where breath tests resulted in readings of twice the legal limit of alcohol. A 50-year-old Innisfil man was charged with Operation While Impaired and Over 80. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He did not sustain any injuries and was released with a future a November court date.

Impaired Driving 

(Innisfil, ON) A 60-year-old Innisfil man was charged with Impaired Operation and Over 80 following a traffic stop in Innisfil.

On Saturday, October 12, 2019, around 8:00 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer conducting speed enforcement on Belle Aire Beach Road in Innisfil observed a vehicle travelling on the wrong side of the road at a low rate of speed. The officer conducted a traffic stop and the driver was arrested following a roadside screening device test. He was transported to North Division where breath tests registered well over the legal limit of alcohol. A 60-year-old Innisfil man was charged with Operation While Impaired and Over 80. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was released with a future court date.

 

Mixing alcohol and driving is clearly dangerous and can be deadly. Forty percent of fatally injured drivers had been drinking some amount of alcohol prior to the collision. The statistics speak for themselves. Don’t drink and drive. Make safer choices for yourself and everyone else in our communities.

 

From Friday, October 11, 2019 to Tuesday, October 15, 2019, South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to 419 calls for service.
