Impaired Driving

(Bradford, ON) On Friday, October 9, 2020, at 3:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a citizen’s call regarding a possible impaired driver in a parking lot in the Langford Boulevard and Holland Street West area of Bradford. A traffic stop was initiated. After speaking with the male driver, police requested a roadside screening device test which resulted in a fail. The man was arrested and transported to South Division for further testing.

As a result of an investigation, 49-year-old Maheswaran Nallaiyah of Bradford was charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration.

His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Impaired Driving 

(Bradford, ON) On Saturday, October 10, 2020, at 8:00 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer observed a vehicle in the Simcoe Road and Holland Street West area of Bradford with a licence plate infraction. A traffic stop was initiated. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to South Division.

As a result of an investigation, 38-year-old Jose Marques Peixoto of Bradford was charged with the following:

 

Operation While Impaired

Operation While Prohibited

Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

Fail to Comply with Judicial Release (2 counts)

Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle

Drive Motor Vehicle – No Permit

Drive Motor Vehicle – No Validation on Plate

Fail to Have Insurance Card

 

His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 45 days.

Forty percent of fatally injured drivers had been drinking alcohol prior to the collision. Don’t add to this statistic. Make good choices.

3-Day Suspension/Careless Driving 

(Innisfil, ON) On Friday, October 9, 2020, around 8:00 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were dispatched to the Highway 400 and 2nd Line area of Innisfil for a single vehicle collision involving a suspected impaired driver. When police arrived, they located the vehicle in a ditch. The driver was uninjured.

After a fail was registered on a roadside Approved Screening Device, the driver was arrested and transported to South Division for further testing.

As a result of an investigation, 42-year-old Jason Beattie of Keswick was charged with Careless Driving and issued a 3-day driving suspension.

He was released with a future court date.

From Friday, October 9, 2020, to Tuesday, October 13, 2020, South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to 286 calls for service.
