Speed Camera Slowing Speeders
(Bradford, ON) The speed camera initiative launched by South Simcoe Police Service and the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury continues to put the brakes on speeding. Early results from the latest camera location on Langford Boulevard show a dramatic reduction in the number of vehicles travelling over the posted speed limit of 40 km/h.
April 16 to 23, 2021:
112 people travelling 60 km/h plus
Highest speed was 82 km/h
7 drivers over 70 km/h
The first batch of warning letters hit the mail on the afternoon of Friday, April 23, 2021.
April 30 to May 7, 2021:
57 people travelling 60 km/h plus
Highest speed was 74 km/h
2 drivers over 70 km/h
The numbers represent close to a 50 percent reduction in speeders on Langford and is welcome news to SSPS and the town. However, our data shows that of the last 27 warnings issued on Langford Boulevard, 25 were sent to local residents. So who is speeding in your neighbourhood? Your neighbours! The heat map attached shows in yellow the area where the warning letters were sent.
Thank you to the drivers who obey posted speed limits. Let’s come together as a community and slow down in order to keep our roads safe.
