Assault Peace Officer With A Weapon

(Innisfil, ON) A Toronto couple is facing serious charges following an incident on Canada Day that began with an illegal fire at Innisfil Beach Park in Innisfil.

On Monday, July 1, 2019 around 6:30 p.m., By-Law Enforcement Officers called the South Simcoe Police Service after being threatened and assaulted by a man who refused to extinguish an illegal fire at the park located on Innisfil Beach Road. The suspect left the scene in a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed with a female driver and two children. Following a brief pursuit on Innisfil Beach Road, the vehicle eventually stopped. The female driver and her male passenger were arrested. During the course of the arrest, the man threatened two South Simcoe Police Service officers with bodily harm.

A 41-year-old Toronto man is facing numerous charges including four counts of Threaten Bodily Harm, two counts of Assaulting a Peace Officer with a Weapon and several counts of Failing to Comply With Probation. A 42-year-old Toronto woman is charged with Flight from Police and Dangerous Operation.

The woman was released with a future court date and the man was held for a bail hearing. The By-Law Enforcement officers were not injured during the incident.

Police and By-Law Enforcement officers patrol our parks to ensure these recreation areas are safe and enjoyable for everyone. We are fortunate to have these fabulous outdoor spaces in our communities and encourage all park users to avoid unnecessary risks including illegal fires.

Sexual Assault

(Innisfil, ON) An 18-year-old Innisfil man is charged after a teenage girl reported she was drugged and sexually assaulted by someone she knew.

The investigation began on Monday, June 10, 2019 and revealed the incident took place in early March 2019 at a home in Innisfil. An 18-year-old Innisfil man subsequently turned himself in at the South Division and was charged with Sexual Assault and Administering a Noxious Thing with Intent to Annoy. The female victim was not physically injured.

A sexual assault is any unwanted sexual contact and can cause long-lasting trauma. We vigorously investigate these allegations and encourage survivors to report them to police. We can provide assistance and resources to support survivors.

Domestic Assault/Mischief

(Innisfil, ON) A 28-year-old Barrie woman is charged following a domestic incident in Innisfil.

On Sunday, June 30, 2019, South Simcoe Police Service officers were called to an Innisfil home by a man who reported his ex-girlfriend had damaged his vehicle. Investigation revealed that the 28-year-old victim had previously been assaulted by the woman. On July 1, 2019 the accused turned herself in at the North Division. A 28-year-old Barrie woman is charged with Assault and Mischief Over $5,000. She was released with a future court date. Police provided the victim with a safety plan and the support of Victim Services. The man did not require medical attention for his injuries.

It was a busy Canada Day long weekend for South Simcoe Police Service officers. We responded to 309 calls for service from Friday, June 28, 2019 to Monday, July 1, 2019.
