Three Arrests Following Series of Thefts from Vehicles

(Innisfil, ON) South Simcoe Police Service officers have charged three people following an investigation into thefts from vehicles and use of stolen credit and debit cards in the Alcona area.

The investigation began on Monday, November 25, 2019 when police received a report of a theft from a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 25th Sideroad and Lakelands Avenue area. The victim’s credit cards were subsequently used to make purchases at businesses in Alcona.

On Wednesday, January 1, 2020, police received another report of a theft from vehicle in the same area. A stolen debit card was then used at an Alcona convenience store.

On Monday, January 6, 2019, around 6:00 a.m., police were called to the 25th Sideroad and Innisfil Beach Road area for a report of two people trying to break into parked vehicles. Responding officers arrested a suspect nearby and transported him to North Division.

A 22-year-old Innisfil man was charged with more than a dozen offences including Theft Under $5,000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Fraudulent Use of Credit Card, Trespassing and Fail to Comply with Undertaking. He was held for a bail hearing.

The investigation also resulted in the arrest of a 40-year-old Innisfil woman who was charged with Fraud Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. A 31-year-old Innisfil woman was also charged with two counts each of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

The two women were released with future court dates.
