Theft of Vehicle Call Ends with Pursuit and Arrests

(Innisfil, ON) On Wednesday, September 14, 2021, at approximately 1:20 a.m., the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a gas station on Commerce Park Drive in Innisfil for a theft of vehicle.
The female victim told police she was pumping gas when two male suspects approached and stole her car. The woman was not physically injured. While investigating the incident, police received a call about a suspicious vehicle in the area of St. Paul Road and Edgar Street in Alcona. It turned out to be the stolen car which was then located by police and a short pursuit ensued. Two cruisers were struck by the suspect vehicle before it was boxed in and the suspects arrested. No one was injured. The stolen vehicle was returned to the owner. Police discovered a second vehicle the suspects had tried to steal near the gas station where the woman’s car was taken.

As a result of the investigation, 21-year-old Hunter Samson-Boucher of Barrie was charged with 27 offences involving a series of occurrences since the beginning of September. The charges include Theft Over $5,000, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Break and Enter, Flight from Police and Breach of Probation.

A 15-year-old youth from London was charged with two counts of Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He cannot be identified due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Both accused were held for bail hearings.

The charges are a result of a collaboration between the SSPS and a number of our policing partners.
