UPDATE: Missing Vulnerable Person Located
(Innisfil, ON) We are happy to report that a missing Innisfil man has been located.
On Thursday, November 8, 2018, around 1:00 p.m., construction workers at a site on 6th Line west of Angus St. in Innisfil found the missing senior laying in thick mud after he had become stuck Wednesday night. He was rescued by South Simcoe Police Service officers, Innisfil Firefighters and County of Simcoe Paramedics who carried the man to a waiting ambulance. He was transported to hospital for observation in apparent good condition.
A large-scale search was launched for the man after he went missing at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2018. The search efforts involved Air Support from the OPP, Air and Marine support from York Regional Police, search managers from Barrie Police, Georgian Bay Search and Rescue, South Simcoe Police Service uniform and CIB officers, the Canine Unit, officers on ATVs, Auxiliary officers and Special Constables.
Officers raced to the scene upon hearing the news that the senior had been found.
“He was conscious, talking and said that he was cold and happy to see all the people around him,” said Staff Sgt. Sheryl Sutton, one of our officers who carried the man to safety. “A good news story for everybody,” she added.
We would like to thank all the agencies involved in the search efforts and all of our caring citizens who stepped up when a member of our community was in need. South Simcoe Police Service is grateful for the positive outcome and the support of our policing and community partners.
