Impaired Charge Following R.I.D.E. Stop

(Innisfil, ON) A 41-year-old man was charged with impaired driving following a R.I.D.E. stop in Innisfil.
On Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at approximately 11:00 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were conducting a Festive R.I.D.E. Program on St. Johns Road in Innisfil.

When speaking to a driver, an officer detected an odour of alcohol and cannabis. After a Fail was registered on a roadside screening device, the driver was arrested and transported to South Division for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, 41-year-old Shane Cooper-Knapp of Innisfil was charged with Operation While Impaired Excess Blood Alcohol Concentration. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was released with a future court date.
