Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust

(Bradford, ON) South Simcoe Police Service officers seized a quantity of drugs after police stopped a vehicle for speeding in Bradford.
On Tuesday, December 8, 2020, around 12:00 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle that was clocked going 85 km/h in a posted 50 zone on Dissette Street. The officer detected an odour of fresh marijuana in the vehicle and the driver was subsequently arrested for possession of suspected cocaine. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a number of items including a quantity of drugs and cash.

As a result of the investigation, 22-year-old Elijah Macaulay of Sunderland was charged with the following offences:

Possession of suspected cocaine and magic mushrooms
Possession for the purpose suspected MDMA
Possession of property obtained by crime
Speeding
Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor

Police seized the following drugs:

96.8 grams suspected MDMA
3.6 grams suspected cocaine
11.9 grams suspected magic mushrooms

The accused was released with a future court date.

On Wednesday, December 9, 2020, South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to 66 calls for service.
