“All Hands On Deck” for Back to School 2024
(Innisfil/Bradford, ON) The school year starts next week and the South Simcoe Police Service is set to launch our “All Hands On Deck” safety campaign.
From Tuesday, September 3, 2024 to Friday, September 6, 2024, all available officers will be assigned to schools in Innisfil and Bradford to help ensure the return to classes goes smoothly and safely. There will be an increased police presence in school zones to encourage and enforce driver, cyclist and pedestrian safety. Our focus will include speeding, parking, jay walking, stop sign compliance and distracted driving.
Drivers should be vigilant and stop for all school buses with their stop sign arm extended and lights flashing. This rule applies to traffic in both directions if the road is not divided by a median. On roads divided by a median, only vehicles on the same side as the bus are required to stop.
We encourage parents and caregivers to discuss safety precautions with their children as the school year beings. To help make the transition smoother, consider giving yourself extra time and avoid last-minute rushes when dropping off children.
Wishing everyone a happy and safe back-to-school season in 2024!
