SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE ENFORCEMENT CAMPAIGN FOCUSES ON UNINSURED AND UNLICENSED DRIVERS

(BRADFORD/INNISFIL, ON) – During the month of October, South Simcoe Police conducted an enforcement campaign focused on uninsured, unlicensed, and improperly plated vehicles operating within our communities.

In nine separate cases, vehicle owners were charged with permitting their vehicles to be operated without insurance, meaning they knowingly allowed uninsured vehicles to be driven. Many of these offences were identified during investigations into unvalidated permits and expired licence plate permits.

The results of this initiative highlight an ongoing concern, as many drivers continue to operate vehicles on our roadways without proper insurance coverage, posing a significant risk to all road users.

The following enforcement results reflect the collective efforts of South Simcoe Police officers during this campaign and highlight the continued focus on removing uninsured, unlicensed, and improperly plated vehicles from our roadways.

• Over 50 vehicles were removed from our roadways for failing to have valid insurance.
• 43 drivers were charged for operating without insurance.
• 9 vehicle owners were charged for permitting uninsured operation.
• Over 170 vehicles were found operating without valid licence plates and/or permits.
• 22 individuals were charged for driving without a valid driver’s licence.
• 8 vehicles were removed from our roadways for using unauthorized plates, resulting in charges.
• Over 180 charges were laid for drivers failing to provide proof of insurance.

South Simcoe Police remind all motorists that driving without insurance or a valid licence is a serious offence. Vehicle insurance is mandatory under Ontario law and serves as critical protection not only for the driver but also for passengers, pedestrians, and all other road users. South Simcoe Police will continue to proactively enforce these laws to ensure the safety and security of everyone using our roadways.
