Cyclist Struck

(Innisfil, ON) A 12-year-old Innisfil boy is in critical but stable condition in hospital following a collision with a vehicle while riding his bicycle.

On Friday September 20, 2019, around 5:30 p.m., the boy and his sister were riding their bicycles eastbound on Big Bay Point Road near 25 Sideroad in Innisfil.

As an eastbound Kia attempted to pass the cyclists, the boy’s bicycle and the Kia made contact. The child was rushed to a local hospital and later transported to a Toronto hospital. The driver of the Kia remained on scene and spoke to police.

The Traffic Unit is investigating the collision and is appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call South Simcoe Police Service at 905-775-3311, 705-436-2141 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

UPDATE: Fatal Collision

(Bradford, ON) South Simcoe Police Service officers continue to investigate the cause of a fatal collision in Bradford.

The head-on collision claimed the lives of a 37-year-old Newmarket man, his nine-year-old son and the man’s 61-year-old mother who was from Barrie.

The victims were in a northbound SUV that collided with a southbound heavy truck on Yonge Street south of 14th Line around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2019. The adult victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The child was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries. The truck driver was treated at the scene and released.

Traffic Unit officers are appealing for witnesses that were in the area and may have seen the vehicles prior to the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call South Simcoe Police Service at 905-775-3311, 705-436-2141 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
