Traffic Stop Leads to Pursuit and Seizure of Loaded Gun, Drugs, Cash

(Innisfil, ON)  Two people face a very long list of serious charges after a police pursuit resulted in the seizure of a loaded gun, drugs and cash in Innisfil.

On Thursday, November 7, 2019 around 11:50 p.m., a South Simcoe Police officer conducting traffic enforcement stopped a Ram pickup truck in the area of Innisfil Beach Road and 20th Sideroad after the pickup ran a red light. As the officer approached the truck, it fled at a high rate of speed. The officer engaged in a pursuit but eventually called it off for both the safety of the public and the officer. A short time later, police located the abandoned truck on a residential street in the 10th Sideroad and Innisfil Beach Road area. PSD Nitro commenced a track in a wooded area and found several items which were seized by police. Officers in the area quickly located two suspects and placed them under arrest. A loaded .22 calibre sawed-off rifle was recovered along with a quantity of cash and drugs. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.

Obstruct peace officer

Unauthorized possession of firearm

Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm

Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm

Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm

Possession for the purpose – suspected cocaine

Red light – fail to stop

Race a motor vehicle

Class G1 licence holder unaccompanied by qualified driver

Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

A 29-year-old Barrie woman was charged with:

Careless use of a firearm

Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Carrying concealed weapon

Unauthorized possession of firearm

Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm

Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm

Possession for the purpose – suspected cocaine

Unauthorized possession of weapon

Possession of suspected heroin

Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Both accused were held for a bail hearing.
