Robbery Arrests 

(Bradford, ON) The South Simcoe Police Service Street Crime Unit has made two arrests following an armed robbery in Bradford West Gwillimbury.  

The robbery occurred on September 11, 2018 at approximately 9:45 p.m. in the area of Sideroad 10 and County Rd. 88. A 22-year-old Bradford man and his 20-year-old girlfriend told police they were threatened and robbed after going to a home to purchase drugs.  

On September 13, 2018, Street Crime Unit officers executed search warrants at a home in Bradford. A number of items were seized including a large amount of suspected marijuana. 

An 18-year-old Bradford man is charged with the following: 

Robbery with a firearm 

Robbery with a weapon 

Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose 

Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence 

Possession of stolen property under $5,000 

Possession of stolen property over $5,000 

Possession of a controlled substance  

Possession for the purpose of trafficking 

 

A 17-year-old Bradford youth is charged with the following: 

Robbery with a firearm 

Robbery with a weapon 

Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose 

Firearm used while committing an offence 

Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence 

Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – 2 counts 

Possession of a controlled substance  

Possession for the purpose of trafficking 

 

No one was physically injured during the robbery. Some of the stolen items have been recovered.

Impaired Driving/Over 80 

 

(Innisfil, ON) A 25-year-old Innisfil man is charged with impaired driving and Over 80 after a vehicle nearly struck an officer and then wound up a ditch. 

On Saturday, September 15, 2018, around 1:00 a.m., officers were in the area of Northern Ave. and Lakelands for a call. While police were on scene, a vehicle travelling at a slow rate of speed was driving directly towards the officers. Officers attempted to alert the vehicle but it continued in its path causing one officer to jump out of the way to avoid being struck. Police then attempted to stop the vehicle but it ended up in a ditch on Hastings Ave. after failing to navigate a turn. While speaking with the driver, officers detected signs of alcohol impairment. The driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Care or Control and transported to North Division. Further testing resulted in readings of more than twice the legal limit of alcohol. 

The man’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded. He was released with a future court date.  

 

Driving Complaint Leads to Impaired Driver 

(Innisfil, ON) A 34-year-old Innisfil woman is charged with impaired driving and Over 80 after police responded to a driving complaint in Innisfil. 

On Friday, September 14, 2018, around 10:30 a.m., police received a call about about a possible impaired driver that was travelling on Big Bay Point Rd. Police pulled the vehicle over and formed grounds to conduct a roadside breath test. As a result, the female driver was arrested and transported to South Division where further testing resulted in the charges. The woman was released with a future court date. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded. 

Road safety is a shared responsibility and we applaud citizens who report suspected impaired drivers. This is a prime example of how we can work together to keep our communities safe. 

 

From Friday, September 14, 2018 to Monday, September 17, 2018, South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to 216 calls for service.
