Dispute Ends in Assault/Weapons Charges
(Innisfil, ON) South Simcoe Police Service officers have charged two men after police responded to a weapons dangerous call in Innisfil.
On Sunday, November 24, 2019, around 2:15 p.m., police were called to a plaza on Innisfil Beach Road after a man said he had been assaulted and threatened by two suspects who were known to him. The victim drove away and the suspects followed. Police responded and two men were arrested a short distance away.
A search of their vehicle turned up several items which were seized by police including two BB guns and a small pocket knife.
As a result of investigation, an 18-year-old Innisfil man was charged with Assault, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Uttering Threats and Possession of a a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. A 20-year-old Innisfil man was charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. The accused were released with a January court date. The victim was unhurt.
(Bradford, ON) A 38-year-old Bradford man had his licence suspended for 90 days after being charged with impaired driving.
On Friday, November 22, 2019, around 11:00 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer observed a vehicle travelling erratically and at a high rate of speed on Bridge Street in Bradford. A vehicle stop was conducted and the driver was arrested for impaired driving. He was transported to South Division where breath tests results in readings of well over the legal limit of alcohol. As a result, a 38-year-old Bradford man was charged with Over 90, Impaired Operation and Drive Suspended. He was also charged with Open Liquor and Cannabis Readily Available. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
(Bradford, ON) A 42-year-old Bradford man was charged with Over 80 after police investigated a man sleeping in a vehicle.
On Saturday, November 23, 2019, around 2:30 a.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer patrolling Holland Street West noticed a running vehicle parked in the back of a parking lot. The vehicle appeared to be unoccupied. Upon closer investigation, the officer located a man who appeared to be sleeping in the reclined driver’s side seat. An odour of alcohol was detected and a Fail was registered on a roadside screening device test. The man was transported to South Division where further testing resulted in readings of more than twice the legal limit. As a result of investigation, a 42-year-old Bradford man was charged with Over 80 and Open Liquor. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
Domestic Assault/Impaired Driving
(Bradford, ON) On Saturday, November 23, 2019, around 6:30 p.m., a woman reported to South Simcoe Police Service that she had been assaulted by her common-law spouse. As a result of investigation, a 32-year-old Bradford man was located in a parking lot on Holland Street West where he was arrested for Domestic Assault and Over 80. He was transported to South Division where breath tests resulted in readings of over the legal limit. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was released with a court date in December. The victim did not require medical assistance for her injuries. Police reviewed safety planning and provided her with support from Victim Services.
(Innisfil, ON) A 41-year-old Innisfil man was charged with Speeding and Stunt Driving following a vehicle stop.
On Saturday, November 23, 2019, around 5:00 a.m., a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed passed a South Simcoe Police Service officer on Innisfil Beach Road near Sideroad 10 in Innisfil. A speed measurement was obtained of 136 km/h in the posted 80 km/h zone. The officer pulled over the vehicle and the driver was charged with Speeding and Stunt Driving. A 41-year-old Innisfil man had his licence suspended for seven days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
Commercial Motor Vehicle Parked Due to Faulty Equipment
(Bradford, ON) A commercial motor vehicle has been ordered off the road after a traffic stop revealed the vehicle unfit for the road.
On Monday, November 25, 2019, around 8:30 a.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer conducted a commercial motor vehicle inspection on Highway 88 near Highway 400. Three of 4 brakes on the vehicle were severely worn down, the emergency brake didn’t work at all and broke on application. The vehicle’s licence plate was removed and the driver and company were charged with a number of infractions:
