Alcona Glen Pedestrian Safety Blitz
(Innisfil, ON) The South Simcoe Police Service is teaming up with Innisfil By-Law Officers to conduct a pedestrian safety blitz at Alcona Glen Elementary School in Innisfil. The safety blitz runs May 9-15, 2022 and will focus on unsafe, illegal pedestrian crossings on Innisfil Beach Road during the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up of students. Police and by-law officers are concerned about an increase in jaywalking in the middle of the block on the busy, four lane road.
The enforcement blitz is aimed at stopping this dangerous practice and educating residents to cross only at marked crosswalks or traffic lights. The campaign includes speed enforcement and will also focus on vehicles parking/stopping in prohibited locations.
