Impaired Driving

(Bradford, ON) A 22-year-old Toronto man was charged with Over 80 following a vehicle stop in Bradford.

On Saturday, May 4, 2019 around 2:00 a.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer on patrol stopped a vehicle on Barrie Street after determining the vehicle had no insurance and an expired validation. As a result of the officer’s observations at the scene, the driver was given a roadside test which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and transported to South Division where further testing resulted in readings of nearly twice the legal limit of alcohol. The man was charged with Over 80, Owner Operate No Insurance, Expired Validation, Liquor Readily Available and Open Liquor.

He was released with a court date in May.

Our officers patrol 24/7 and always keep a watchful eye for impaired drivers during traffic stops. We also conduct RIDE programs year round in a bid to keep our roads safe.

From Friday, May 3, 2019 to Monday, May 6, 2019, South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to 293 calls for service.
