Impaired Driving Charges

South Simcoe Police Service made three arrests for impaired driving related offences over the weekend.

(Innisfil, ON)  On Sunday, May 16, 2021, at approximately 11:40 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were called regarding a hit and run collision in Innisfil.

Upon arrival at the intersection of Innisfil Beach Road and 25th Sideroad, police learned that a vehicle had collided with the median, hit a flag pole then travelled across the sidewalk nearly striking two pedestrians. The driver and passenger fled the scene on foot. The passenger was soon located and arrested.  The K9 Unit attended the scene, conducted a track and located the driver hiding at a nearby residence. She was placed under arrest.

As a result of the investigation,. 30-year-old Megan Pinsky of Thornhill was charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol, Dangerous Operation, Obstruct Peace Officer and Failure to Stop after Accident. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded for seven days.

31-year-old Tamara Nafanailova of Newmarket was charged with Fail to Remain, Fail to Report Accident and Being Intoxicated in a Public Place.

The accused were released with a future court date.

(Bradford, ON) On Sunday, May 16, 2021, at approximately 7 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service was called regarding a man sleeping in a vehicle in a parking lot on Holland Street West in Bradford. The man was arrested for impaired driving and brought to the South Division.

As a result of the investigation, 28-year-old Judah Maharaj of Toronto was charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol.
His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was released with a future court date.

(Bradford, ON) On Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 5:51 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were dispatched to the area of Melbourne Drive and Holland Street West in Bradford for a report of a suspected impaired driver. Police located the vehicle in question at a nearby address and the driver was arrested.

As a result of the investigation, 50-year-old Rodrigo Arriaga Velazquez of Bradford was charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Excess
Blood Alcohol, Novice Driver – BAC Above Zero. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
