Impaired Driving Summary

(Bradford/Innisfil, ON) The South Simcoe Police Service charged four people with impaired driving offences over the weekend and a fifth person last weekend.

(Bradford, ON)  On Friday, June 3, 2022, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a collision where a vehicle struck a parked car and rolled over on Blue Dasher Boulevard in Bradford. The driver suffered a minor injury and was arrested for impaired driving. Police determined the collision was connected to a fail to remain, rear-end collision one hour earlier in the area of 8th Line and Professor Day Drive. No one was hurt. As a result of the investigation, 21-year-old Joshua Wannamaker of Bradford was charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol, Dangerous Operation, Fail to Remain, Cannabis Readily Available and Novice Driver B.A.C. Above Zero.

(Innisfil, ON)  On Friday, June 3, 2022, at approximately 8:11 p.m., the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Innisfil Beach Road and Webster Boulevard. As a result of the investigation, 34-year-old George Smith of Barrie was charged with Operation while Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol, Dangerous Operation and Operation While Prohibited by Order Under the Criminal Code.

(Innisfil, ON)  On Saturday, June 4, 2022, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Yonge Street and Innisfil Beach Road. As a result of the investigation, 50-year-old Richard Ayers of Palgrave was charged with Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol.

(Bradford, ON)  On Saturday, June 4, 2022, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a two-vehicle collision on County Road 88 and County Road 27 in Bond Head. Both drivers were taken to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. As a result of the investigation, 46-year-old Michael Lacava of Bradford was charged with Operation While Impaired, Dangerous Operation and Operation Causing Bodily Harm.

(Bradford, ON)  On Saturday, May 28, 2022, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a citizen-initiated complaint regarding a vehicle that exited Highway 400 onto Highway 88 in Bradford. As a result of the investigation, 64-year-old Kevin Dwyer of Bradford was charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol and Dangerous Operation.

A charge of impaired driving results in the immediate suspension of your licence for 90 days and the seven-day impoundment of your vehicle. The South Simcoe Police Service remains committed to road safety through prevention, education and enforcement initiatives.
