(Bradford, ON) A 49-year-old North York man has been arrested on an outstanding warrant regarding a shoplifting incident last year.
On April 29, 2019, a man at a grocery store on Holland Street West in Bradford stole a quantity of baby formula valued at nearly $2,000 and walked out of the store without paying. A warrant was issued for the suspect’s arrest. On Saturday, January 26, 2020, South Simcoe Police Service was contacted by Toronto Police regarding the outstanding warrant. A SSPS officer went to Toronto where a man was taken into custody and charged with Theft Under $5,000. The 49-year-old accused was released with a future court date.
Driving While Under Suspension
(Innisfil, ON) A 19-year-old man was charged with Driving While Under Suspension following a traffic stop in Innisfil.
On Friday, January 24, 2020, around 10:00 a.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer observed a vehicle travelling on Killarney Beach Road with the front licence plate obstructed with paint. The officer conducted a traffic stop and checks revealed the driver was under a driving suspension. A 19-year-old Innisfil man was charged and his vehicle seized for seven days.
Licence plates must be kept clean and visible. The Highway Traffic Act states that the number plate “shall be kept free from dirt and obstruction and shall be affixed so that the entire number plate is plainly visible at all times.” The fine for an obstructed plate is $85.
From Friday, January 24, 2020 to Monday, January 27, 2020, South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to 255 calls for service.
