UPDATE: Thefts From Vehicles Arrest

(Bradford, ON) A 20-year-old Bradford man is charged in connection with thefts from vehicles in Bradford.

On Thursday, November 29, 2018, South Simcoe Police Service received a report of a theft from a vehicle in the Professor Day Dr. and Northgate Dr. area.

On Saturday, December 1, 2018, police received a report of a theft from a vehicle in the Holland St. West and Professor Day Dr. area. The victim discovered the theft after noticing transactions on bank accounts that the victim did not make.

A detailed investigation ensued involving front line and Street Crime Unit officers. A search warrant was executed on Friday, December 7, 2018 at an address in Bradford and stolen property from two thefts from vehicles was recovered.

The suspect is charged with:

2 counts of Theft

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

3 counts of Fraud

The suspect was released with a January court date. The investigation is continuing.

UPDATE: Distraction Theft Arrest 

(Innisfil, ON) A 27-year-old Toronto man is charged with theft following a multi-agency investigation involving South Simcoe Police Service, York Regional Police and the Ontario Provincial Police.

On Sunday, September 9, 2018 around 4:30 p.m., police were called to a store on King St. South in Cookstown for a report of a theft. Once on scene, officers learned that seven suspects entered the store and distracted the lone employee. While that was occurring, one suspect went into a back room and removed a quantity of cash. The suspects were 2 men and five women who left the scene in a white minivan. The employee did not discover the theft until later that evening.

The investigation into this theft is continuing.

Impaired Driving/Over 80 

(Bradford, ON) A 22-year-old Aylmer man is charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 following a collision in a parking lot in Bradford.

On Saturday, December 8, 2018, around 10:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Bradford Community Centre located on Simcoe Rd. in Bradford.

When officers arrived, they located a male driver in the parking lot and damage to his vehicle. While speaking with the driver, an odour of alcohol and other signs of impairment were detected. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to South Division where testing resulted in readings of over twice the legal limit of alcohol. His licence was suspended and his vehicle impounded.

Subsequent investigation revealed that a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed entered the parking lot area and struck a parked vehicle, causing it to slide and hit another parked vehicle. Both of the parked vehicles were unoccupied at the time.

The suspect was released with a future court date.
