Impaired Driving

(Bradford/Innisfil, ON) The South Simcoe Police Service charged four people with impaired driving offences within the past five days.

Shortly before midnight on Friday, August 27, 2021, the South Simcoe Police Service received two separate driving complaints for possible impaired drivers on northbound Highway 400. One vehicle exited in Bradford and the other in Innisfil. With the information provided, officers located each of the vehicles shortly after midnight and conducted vehicle stops.

As a result of the vehicle stop in Innisfil, 55-year-old Galo Brito of Innisfil was charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol. As a result of the vehicle stop in Bradford, 58-year-old Fredy Brito of Bradford was charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol. The accused are brothers. Both had their licence suspended for 90-days and their vehicle impounded for seven-days.

On Thursday, August 26, 2021 at approximately 5:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a driving complaint and possible impaired driver in the area of Jans Boulevard and Webster Boulevard in Innisfil. The vehicle was located and the driver was arrested for impaired driving. As a result of the investigation, 67-year-old Rickey McKenzie of Innisfil was charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

On Thursday, August 26, 2021 at approximately 9:20 p.m., the South Simcoe Police Service received a driving complainant about a vehicle travelling northbound on Yonge Street in Innisfil. Police located the vehicle in a ditch in the area the 6th Line and 20th Sideroad. The driver, who was unhurt, was arrested at the scene for impaired driving. As a result of the investigation, 34-year-old Brian Pham of Innisfil was charged with Dangerous Operation, Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

Impaired driving is a crime in progress and we applaud all the citizens who call 911 to report suspected impaired drivers. By making that call, you are playing an important role in keeping our roads and waterways safe. Thank you.

Stunt Driving/Speeding

(Innisfil, ON) On Friday, August 27, 2021, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Innisfil Beach Road west of the 20th Sideroad in Innisfil. It is a posted 40 km/h zone and is currently under construction. A speed measurement was obtained of 80 km/h in the posted 40 zone. A vehicle stop was conducted.
As a result of the investigation, 20-year-old Foster Acheson of Innisfil was charged with Stunt Driving and Speeding. His licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle impounded for 14 days.
Speed limits are set to reduce the risk of collision and injury. The South Simcoe Police Service is urging drivers to slow down and arrive alive. Protect yourself, other motorists and pedestrians.

From Friday, August 27, 2021, to Monday, August 30, 2021, the South Simcoe Police Service responded to 221 calls for service.
