Stunt Driving
(Innisfil, ON) On Friday, August 23, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a South Simcoe Police officer was conducting mobile speed enforcement and captured the speed of a vehicle southbound on Maple Road approaching 6th Line in Innisfil. The vehicles speed was measured at 129 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.
The driver, a 40-year-old man from Etobicoke was charged with Stunt Driving and Speeding. The vehicle was impounded for 14 days and his licence suspended for 30 days.
Innisfil Man Arrested Twice Within 24 Hours
(Innisfil, ON) On Saturday, August 24, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., police responded to a call about a pedestrian being struck at the intersection of Webster Boulevard and Innisfil Beach Road. Upon arrival, officers learned that a vehicle had hit a child on a bike. The child was located, treated on the scene by paramedics, and transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Witnesses reported that the vehicle was traveling at inconsistent speeds before abruptly accelerating and hitting the child. After being confronted by witnesses, the driver fled the scene. It was learned that the accused is currently sentenced to three separate indefinite Driver’s Licence suspensions in the province of Ontario. Police later located and arrested the driver.
As a result of an investigation, a 33-year-old Innisfil man was charged with:
-Operation While Prohibited x 2
-Fail to Remain
-Careless Driving Cause Bodily Harm
-Drive While Suspended x 3
He was released with a future court date.
On Sunday, August 25, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., police were alerted by an iPhone crash notification to a motor vehicle collision at Lockhart Road and 25th Sideroad in Innisfil. Officers found a vehicle overturned on its side with the driver trapped inside. Innisfil Fire & Rescue extracted the driver, who was then taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation revealed that the driver lost control of the vehicle, which had been airborne briefly, suggesting a high rate of speed. A warrant was sought for the driver’s blood to check for impairment.
The same 33-year-old Innisfil man was re-arrested and charged with:
-Failure to Comply with Undertaking
-Operation While Prohibited x 2
-Drive While Suspended x 3
-Dangerous Operation
He was held in custody for a Show Cause hearing.
The South Simcoe Police Service would like to remind the public that more than 90% of road crashes are a result of human error or condition. This means that road crashes are entirely preventable. Slow down, stay in control and arrive safely at your destination.
