Fail to Remain
(Innisfil, ON) On Friday, August 9, 2024, at approximately 9:15 p.m., South Simcoe Police officers responded to a call from EMS regarding a vehicle in a ditch at the intersection of Innisfil Beach Road and Innisbrook Street in Innisfil.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the vehicle had been traveling eastbound on Innisfil Beach Road at an estimated speed of 130 km/h, overtaking other cars. The driver swerved to avoid a head-on collision, resulting in the vehicle crashing into the ditch on the north side of the road. It was also found that three occupants of the vehicle had fled on foot. Barrie K9 units were called in to help locate them. Two females were quickly found and interviewed. A few hours later, officers identified and located a male walking along Innisfil Beach Road, confirming him as the third occupant.
Following the investigation, a 40-year-old man from Innisfil was charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Stop After an Accident, and Probation Order Non-Compliance. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Impaired Arrest
(Innisfil, ON) On Saturday, August 10, 2024, at approximately 4:45 p.m., police received a report of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance at Innisfil Beach. It was also reported that the individual had left the beach and was riding a motorcycle. Officers quickly located and conducted a traffic stop on the accused.
Following an investigation, a 31-year-old man from Innisfil was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Impaired, Driving Without a Permit, Driving Without License Plates, Driving Without a License, Operating a Vehicle Without Insurance, Failing to Wear a Proper Helmet, and Driving with an Unsealed Container of Liquor. His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, and the motor bike was impounded for seven days. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Careless Driving
(Innisfil, ON) On Saturday, August 10, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., police were patrolling the area of 10th Line and 20th Sideroad in the Town of Innisfil when they observed a running vehicle in the middle of a field near the intersection.
The investigation revealed that the vehicle had been traveling northbound when a deer suddenly appeared in front of it. The driver swerved to avoid the deer but accidentally kept his foot on the gas, causing the vehicle to lose control. The front end of the vehicle sustained significant damage, and all airbags deployed.
Both the driver and a passenger were uninjured but were taken to the hospital as a precaution. An 18-year-old man from Innisfil was charged with Careless Driving.
