Driver Charged After Truck Hits Bridge

(Innisfil, ON) On Monday, April 13, 2020, around 1:00 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to Innisfil Beach Road and Highway 400 in Innisfil for a report of a truck hitting a bridge. Once on scene, police learned than an eastbound transport truck struck the Highway 400 overpass and left the scene. The collision caused significant damage to the overpass and forced the closure of Innisfil Beach Road between the Highway 400 off and on ramps for approximately two hours. The transport truck was located several kilometres away shortly after the collision. No one was injured.

A 55-year-old Severn Township man was charged with Fail to Report Accident and Oversize Vehicle – Violate Permit. He was released with a future court date.
