YOUTH CHARGED IN MAJOR COLLISION INVOLVING DIRT BIKE IN INNISFIL

(INNISFIL, ON) – This update follows a media release issued on August 12, 2025, regarding the South Simcoe Police investigation into the August 11, 2025, incident involving a major motor vehicle collision on Mountbatten Avenue in the Town of Innisfil. The collision involved a driver of a dirt bike that was identified as a youth from Innisfil.

The collision investigation was led by the South Simcoe Police Service Traffic and Marine Unit. Through investigation, police determined that the youth had been operating a dirt bike on the roadway at a high rate of speed before losing control and striking a parked car. The youth was transported to hospital and later airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre by air ambulance. Fortunately, the youth survived the serious collision.

As a result of the investigation, police charged the driver of the dirt bike, a 15-year-old youth with the following offences:

• Careless driving, Highway Traffic Act
• Drive motor vehicle – no licence, Highway Traffic Act
• Operate unsafe vehicle, Highway Traffic Act
• Owner operate motor vehicle on a highway – no insurance, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

Police are reminding residents that dirt bikes are off-road vehicles and are prohibited from being operated on municipal roadways. When driven on roads they are motor vehicles and are subject to the same requirements as any other road user. The South Simcoe Police Service is committed to roadway safety and ensuring accountability under the law.
