Impaired Driving/Over 80 

(Innisfil, ON) A 35-year-old Innisfil man is charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 after a citizen called police to report a suspected impaired driver. 

On Friday, November 30, 2018 around 9:00 p.m., a citizen called police about a man sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the parking lot of a bar in Cookstown. When police arrived, an odour of alcohol and signs of impairment were detected. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the North Division. Further testing resulted in readings of three times the legal limit of alcohol. The man’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

(Bradford, ON) A 22-year-old Aylmer man is charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 following a collision in a parking lot in Bradford.

On Saturday, December 8, 2018, around 10:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Bradford Community Centre located on Simcoe Rd. in Bradford.

When officers arrived, they located a male driver in the parking lot and damage to his vehicle. While speaking with the driver, an odour of alcohol and other signs of impairment were detected. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to South Division where testing resulted in readings of over twice the legal limit of alcohol. His licence was suspended and his vehicle impounded.

Subsequent investigation revealed that a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed entered the parking lot area and struck a parked vehicle, causing it to slide and hit another parked vehicle. Both of the parked vehicles were unoccupied at the time.

(Bradford, ON) On Thursday, December 13, 2018, police were conducting a RIDE program at Catania Ave. and Simcoe Rd. in Bradford. Officers detected an odour of alcohol after speaking with the driver of a vehicle at the check point. After conducting a roadside breath test, the driver was arrested for Over 80 mgs and transported to South Division. After further testing, the man was charged with Over 80.

Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle/Impaired Driving/Over 80 

(Bradford, ON) On Friday, December 14, 2018 at 12:15 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed near the intersection of Holland St. at Yonge St. in Bradford. Speed measurements were obtained of 95 km/h in the posted 50 km/h zone. The officer conducted a traffic stop and detected signs of impairment and an odour of alcohol. The male driver was arrested for Dangerous Operation Driving and Impaired Driving. He was transported to South Division where further testing resulted in the additional charge of Over 80.

(Innisfil, ON) On Friday, December 14, 2018 at 1:41 a.m., a citizen called 911 to report a possible impaired driver in the area of Sideroad 10 and Innisfil Beach Rd. in Innisfil. An officer arrived and conducted a traffic stop. After observing signs of impairment, the officer conducted a roadside breath test. As a result, the female driver was arrested for Over 80 and Impaired Driving. She was transported to North Division where further testing was conducted and resulted in charges.

(Innisfil, ON) On Saturday, December 15, 2018, around 2:00 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were conducting a RIDE program at Highway 89 and Highway 400 in Innisfil. While speaking with a female driver at the check point, an officer detected an odour of alcohol and other signs of impairment. As a result of a roadside breath test, the woman was arrested for Over 80 mgs. She was transported to North Division where further testing resulted in additional charges.

(Innisfil, ON) On Sunday, December 16, 2018 around 4:00 p.m., police received a call about a possible impaired driver on Yonge St. and the 14th Line of Innisfil. Officers conducted a traffic stop at Harbour St. and Killarney Beach Rd. and an odour of alcohol and other signs of impairment were detected. The female driver was placed under arrest and transported her to North Division. Further testing resulted in additional charges.

(Bradford, ON) On Sunday, December 16, 2018 around 8:40 p.m., police received a report regarding a possible impaired driver at a grocery store parking lot on Melbourne Dr. in Bradford.

An officer arrived and located the suspect vehicle. A man was observed exiting the store and driving off. The officer subsequently pulled over the vehicle and detected an odour of alcohol. The man was arrested for Impaired Driving and transported to South Division for further testing.

Dangerous Driving/Impaired Driving/Over 80 mgs 

(Innisfil, ON) A 23-year-old Scarborough woman is facing numerous charges including impaired driving after officers stopped a speeding, wrong-way vehicle in Cookstown.

On Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 2:18 a.m., an officer on patrol observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed westbound on Highway 89 east of Highway 400. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle accelerated westbound and entered the eastbound lanes. The vehicle continued driving on the wrong side of the road for more than 3 km which included two blind hills on Highway 89 between the 5th Sideroad and Highway 27. A speed measurement of 122 km/h in a posted 50 km/h Community Safety Zone was obtained before the vehicle came to a stop at a red light at County Rd. 27 while still on the wrong side of the road. The officer spoke with the female driver and detected an odour of marijuana and alcohol. A roadside breath test for alcohol was conducted. As a result of the test, the woman was arrested for Over 80 and transported to North Division for further testing.

Drug Impaired Driving/Dangerous Operation 

(Innisfil, ON) A 30-year-old Innisfil man is charged with drug impaired driving after a citizen called 911 to report a suspected impaired driver.

On Friday, December 28, 2018 at 8:20 p.m., police were called to the area of Sideroad 20 and Line 7 in Innisfil. A caller reported that a vehicle was driving erratically with its 4-way flashers activated. Police conducted a vehicle stop on Yonge Street near Line 5. Drug paraphernalia and a bag of suspected drugs were found in the vehicle. Based on evidence at the scene, the driver was arrested for impaired driving by drug and fail to comply with recognizance. He was transported to the North Division for further testing.

Charged: 30-year-old Gursharan Muman of Innisfil

Charges: Operation While Impaired by Drug, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Fail to Comply with Recognizance, Possession of suspected methamphetamine

He was released with a court date in January.

Impaired Driving

(Innisfil, ON) A 50-year-old E-bike rider is charged with impaired driving following a vehicle stop in Innisfil.

On Saturday, December 29, 2018 around 6:00 p.m., an officer was patrolling Innisfil Beach Road near the 25th Sideroad when he saw an E-bike driving without a headlight on. The officer conducted a traffic stop for the Highway Traffic Act violation. Investigation revealed the driver was suspended from driving and not allowed to be operating the vehicle. The officer detected an odour of alcohol and after attempting a roadside breath test, the driver was placed under arrest. He was transported to the North Division where further testing was conducted.

Charged: 50-year-old Kenneth Boorman of Innisfil

Charges: Impaired Driving, Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Content (BAC), Operation While Prohibited

His vehicle was impounded. He was released with a January court date.

Under the criminal code, it’s an offence to operate a motor vehicle, including an e-bike, while impaired by alcohol or drugs. If you remove the pedals from an e-bike it is no longer considered an e-bike by an illegal vehicle.

Impaired/Over 80 

(Innisfil, ON) A 37-year-old Innisfil man is charged with impaired driving and Over 80 after officers stopped a vehicle at a RIDE check.

On Sunday, December 30, 2018 around 2:30 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were conducting a RIDE program at the 10th Sideroad and 10th Line of Innisfil. Officers detected an odour of alcohol coming from a vehicle that was stopped. Following a roadside breath test, the driver was arrested for 80 and Over mgs. He was transported to North Division for further testing.
