Missing Licence Plate Leads to Drug Bust  

(Innisfil, ON) On Thursday, February 13, 2020, around 1:30 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle without a front licence plate on Innisfil Beach Road in Alcona. After speaking with the driver, a roadside drug-screening test was conducted which produced a positive result for cocaine and THC. After observing drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, police conducted a search which resulted in the seizure of a number of items including:

A plastic container with approximately 5 ounces of suspected cocaine

One bag containing 5 grams of suspected cocaine

One bag containing 8 grams of suspected methamphetamine

A quantity of marijuana

A quantity of cash

As a result of investigation, 22-year-old Melissa Garwood of Innisfil was charged with:

Possession for the purpose of trafficking

3 counts of drug possession including suspected cocaine

Possession of property obtained by crime.

Garwood was issued a ticket for Novice Driver Presence of Drug and received a three-day warn range suspension. She was released with a future court date.

Search Warrant Results in Drug Possession/Trafficking Charges 

(Bradford, ON) The South Simcoe Police Service Street Crime Unit recently launched an investigation into dealing of methamphetamine in downtown Bradford.  

On Thursday, February 13, 2020, just before midnight, police executed a search warrant at a Bradford home, seizing a quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine and arresting two people. Charged with drug possession and trafficking is 54-year-old William Haynes of Bradford. Crystal McKay, 37, also of Bradford was charged with drug possession. Both accused were released with future court dates.

On Thursday, February 13, 2020, South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to 75 calls for service.
